Members of the S.O.A.R. Retiree Health Benefit subcommittee met with newly elected Sheriff Todd Baxter and discussed our situation and issues.
We thanked him on behalf of S.O.A.R. for appearing at the January county legislative meeting showing support for our efforts. The Sheriff was given a short history of what we have been working with and attempting to do to correct the counties attitude and involuntary changes to retirees health benefits. He asked several questions about our contracts and the language contained therein. Our purpose was to remove any misunderstandings that he might have had.
Sheriff Baxter was totally committed to assist the S.O.A.R. members and offered to meet with any county legislator that wishes to discuss this matter. He will also bring up these issues when he is speaking with our county officials, both elected and otherwise. He also gave us some info on strategy and contacts we can use when we start our post card writing campaign at the end of next month. Overall a very supportive individual.
